U.S. Air Quality Forecasts and Observations
Air Quality Forecasts provide 5 days of recent and forecasted air pollution information for the U.S.
Air Quality 5-day Forecasts include:
- Primary Air Pollutant
- Ozone Level
- Air Quality Category
Air Quality Observations include observed data for the past 24 hours (maximum pollution levels) for both U.S. and Canadian locations, gathered by the EPA as part of the AirNow project.
Air Quality Observations include:
- Air Quality Category
- Ozone Level
Global Air Pollution Forecasts
The Air Pollution Forecasts predict the levels of pollution expected over the next 7 days or 48 hours based on anticipated atmospheric conditions. The forecasts are based on atmospheric conditions that typically lead to high levels of pollutants being trapped in the near surface environment.
The air pollution forecasts act as a guideline for air pollution levels in near-urban areas based on forecasted weather conditions. Atmospheric factors taken into account include: the stability of the lower atmosphere (presence of a temperature inversion), wind speeds, temperatures, precipitation, humidity, and barometric pressure.
